Guess what Eagles, it’s MAP testing season!
For those that don’t know MAP tests are a national standard exam that tests students’ English, math, and reading skills. HCP administers these tests three times a year.
The first of them are coming up this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, we will have block schedule, where students will test in their English, science, and history classes.
It’s highly encouraged that students put effort into these tests. The results help the school determine what subjects students need extra help on. It also shows the school what they need to do to give us the best possible learning environment.
Students that score extremely below average on these tests will have to come in every Monday and do IXL learning from 8-8:45. Students will also have to do IXL Tuesday-Friday in their advisory classes.
The higher you score on the tests, the less IXL you are required to do.
Students that score above average can sign up for enrichment activities on Monday mornings.
These activities include cartooning, t-shirt making, piano, audition prep, true crime, open lab for publications, bucket drumming, and reading for pleasure.
The deadline to sign up for enrichment activities is Aug. 25 at 5:00p.m.
Of course, these enrichment activities are not required. Those that are not required to come in for study time can always get an extra bit of sleep. This year, classes on Mondays will not start until 9:00a.m.
You can sign up for any enrichment activity here.
Good luck!
