HCP seniors Matthew Albers, Samantha Ardery and Maxwell Barnes have been recognized as National Merit Semifinalists! This accomplishment is based on their 2023 Preliminary SAT (PSAT) and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) scores, placing them in the top 1% of test-takers nationwide.
Albers scored 1460 on his PSAT, placing him in the 99th percentile nationally. Apart from his academic achievements, he also plays many musical instruments, including guitar and piano. He has performed in HCP’s annual Singeasy since transferring in at the beginning of his junior year.
Apart from their academic achievements, Ardery is actively involved in multiple extracurricular activities at HCP. They are a member of the National Honor Society, Queer Straight Alliance and Performing Arts program. Their hard work as part of the crew for The Addams Family musical highlights their commitment and creativity behind the scenes.
Barnes also scored 1460 on his PSAT, but his achievements are not academically limited. He is also a distinguished local chess champion, having been recognized for his achievements in that field.
All three students performed strongest on the math portion, demonstrating their exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
These seniors’ hard work and dedication throughout high school has granted them this incredible opportunity. Their commitment to their academics and extracurriculars allows them to stand out in our school community.
Congratulations and go eagles!
