Many Harding Charter Prep’s students and teachers go somewhere during the summer or do something interesting.
Junior Monica Threatt traveled to Hawaii with her family over the summer. They went to a luau, and saw a man climb a pole who threw flowers.
“We also snorkeled and saw sea turtles,” Threatt said. “It was really scary. I thought I was going to drown.”
Counselor Joe Hughes got married. He got married on June 16, at Wildewood Christian Church.
In Houston, Hughes and his wife went sightseeing. While there, they went to Kemah Island, an amusement park. They also went to a beach in Galveston.
Senior James Ikeguchi traveled to New York City over the summer. He worked on a music video with other students.
They worked ten-hour days rotating positions. “We could be a director or shoot the camera,” Ickeguchi said
Math teacher Courtney Miller has been going to Major League Baseball parks since the fourth grade. This summer she traveled to four parks: The All-star game in Kansas City, Boston Massachusetts, the Citizen Bang in Philadelphia, and a game against the Mets in Citi Field Stadium, New York.
As a child, and still now as an adult, Miller has enjoyed watching sports. The first real game that she attended was in Houston, and she has “been hooked ever since,” Miller said.
