Each month four or more students are chosen to receive an award for being awesome. Students are nominated for kind acts, helping others or the school, or going above and beyond in some recognizable way.
The September Awesome Eagles are senior Neia Knox-Davis, junior Marsheona Welch, sophomore Geoffrey Barbour and freshman Hannah Mitchell.
Welch was nominated by AP Literature teacher Cherith Ferguson for helping her move her classroom over the summer.
“She even helped me hang up the posters around my room,” Ferguson said.
Barbour was nominated by vocal music teacher Carrie Hoipkemier for helping set up audio-visuals in the auditorium.
The students received a free t-shirt, lunch with Head Principal Justin Hunt, and a certificate for being selected as the Eagle of the Month.
The process of selecting an Awesome Eagle includes teachers filling out nomination forms each month which are turned in to the horizontal team teachers who then vote on a winner at their monthly meeting.
