Spirit Week at HCP is a week full of fun and enjoyment to pump up the whole school body for the first official school basketball game of the year. It also allows the students to be able to think outside the box and get creative with their own style of clothing.
According to Assistant Principal Candice Salters, Spirit Week is about “getting creative and letting kids be kids.”
In every high school, there is going to be that “one apple that spoils the bunch,” This year, however, the problems were “slim to none,” said Principal Justin Hunt.
Many teachers participated along with the students during Spirit Week. On Flashback Day, most of the staff wore an outfit they wore when they were in high school.
“When I was in high school we had a theme similar to that day which was called ‘Blast from the Past,’ and it was extremely fun and funny,” Salters said.
Of course to go along with spirit week before the big game there is a pep assembly. It was filled with lots of enjoyment for both the students and teachers. There were various games for each grade to compete against each other to challenge the ability of their minds and talents.
The assembly ran smoothly, except for one group.
“The sophomores were overly excited and a bit too rowdy, but kids are going to be kids and it was a pep assembly so that was somewhat expected,” Salters said.
Both HCP students and staff had a wonderful time and made the best out of each and every day of the entire week.
“Spirit week overall has been great, students looked amazing, had their spirit going and we are excited,” Hunt said.
