Reaching out for help can lessen the stress of finals

Finals season is here! While the stress is more present than ever, you shouldn’t let it overwhelm you. These are a few tips that can help you be successful during exams:

Ask your teacher questions about the final:

This can help you format your study sessions in a way that’s best for the course. It can help you have all the materials to be successful when studying. You can also attend review sessions; some teachers hold sessions after school the week before finals. This can be a helpful way to study and ask your teacher questions beforehand.

Start studying as early as possible:

Begin by finding your favorite way to study. Everyone has different study habits, so find a way that will make you the most successful. Start preparing a few days beforehand. Try not to cram too much new material in a short period.

Keep yourself on a schedule and stay away from distractions. Make sure to not get overwhelmed when studying by taking breaks. Prioritizing your studying based on the class helps, too. Classes you struggle more in may need more study time than a class that you find easier.

Stay well rested:

It can be difficult to prioritize your health during stressful times like these, but it is still important. Most people need 8-10 hours of sleep, so it’s best if you start studying as early as possible. Sleep is essential to staying focused and on task, which is crucial to good studying and test taking.

Study with friends:

Studying with your friends is a way to make it a more enjoyable experience and a way to make sure you’re all prepared. Teaching others is the most effective way to being able to understand a concept, so try teaching them.

Finals season can be a difficult time for everyone, but focusing and remembering to prioritize your health can help you stay on track and be successful. Remember there’s resources all around you who are willing to help. Keep a positive mindset and put yourself first!
