It’s the start of a new school year which means Volleyball season has arrived! Coming off an 11-15 season last year, the Eagles are looking to make some noise with new head coach Kori Williams. The Eagles are coming off a crushing win on Aug. 22 versus Pathways School winning all three sets (25-11, 25-17, 25-21).
However, overall the team has had a slow start with a 3-3 record so far.
The hiring of Williams has had a major impact on the team; players have bigger expectations this year.
Senior Natalie Thompson said her expectations for the season are “to have a better record and more spirit.”
“I think our new head coach is great. She’s fair, she pushes us, and she shows that she sees each of her players as human instead of disregarding us like other coaches might,” Thompson said.
Since seniors are going through their last year of volleyball in their high school career, they’re going through different emotions as many will miss it.
“I’m honestly really sad but so excited about my last season,” said senior Sophia Calvo.
“I’m disappointed but it’s very bittersweet,” said senior Mae Caudle. “I’ve played volleyball for seven years, but I hope this season wraps up everything I’ll miss.”
The Class of 2025 have racked up a total of 29 wins in their high school career thus far.
They will look to add a couple more to the total as the Eagles have five more games left this season before the playoffs come around.
They face the Oklahoma Christian Academy Eagles Aug. 27 in the HCP Gym with JV starting at 5 p.m., followed by the Varsity team at 6 p.m.
