The New Year has arrived!
The top ten New Year resolutions made by Americans include losing weight, getting organized, saving, enjoying life, staying fit, learning something new, quit smoking, helping others, falling in love, and spending more time with family, states statisticbrain.com. Like 45% of Americans, many of our students and teachers have made resolutions.
According to history.com, “the practice of making resolutions for the New Year is thought to come from Babylonians, who made promises in order to gain favor of the gods.”
Junior Maggie Sanroman has made a resolution to stop eating candy and chips. Freshman Michael Banda’s goal is to improve in soccer, while sophomore Aneesha Moore plans on going to state in track with her relay team. Junior Raina Drink wants to be nicer to people. Junior Chelsea Myers’ resolution is to teach herself how to play a banjo she received for Christmas.
Some students have made resolutions that are more physical in nature.
Freshman Kevin Tran has made a resolution to grow taller. Senior James Bruton aims to, “lose ten pounds around the hips.”
Other students have chosen not to make a resolution this year.
“I’m not going to because I’m not going to stick to it,” Yaneth Resendiz said.
“I just don’t see the point, nobody sticks to them,” Morgan Blankenship said.
