Fall offers fun activities for all ages in OKC
October 26, 2016
Part way through the first semester, fall is about the time that the school year begins to pick up. Many students could use a fun, temporary escape from textbooks and worksheets. This fall, there are plenty of fun things to do in the Oklahoma City area. Here are some great fall events for 2016:
- Movie Night at HCP!
Come to Harding on October 27th for a whole night of family fun! The movie Monster House will be playing in the auditorium at 6:30 that evening and snacks will be served as well. Admittance will be $3.00 for ages 6 and up. Children of 5 and under get in free! And remember to dress up — a prize will be given to the HCP student with the best costume.
- A Trip to Orr Family Farm!
Orr Family Farm is a great place to go and has fun activities for all ages! Whether you enjoy picking out pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, exploring through corn mazes, or saving the world in Zombie Apocalypse Paintball, they have something for everyone to be a part of.
- See the Spooky Pooch Parade!
The Myriad Gardens hosts the Spooky Pooch Parade on October 29th from 6-7:30. Owners bring their dogs dressed in their best Halloween costumes! Family friendly, and you don’t even have to enter to observe all the precious puppies. Awards will be given to the best-dressed dogs of the evening. Tickets are $10 for Myriad Garden members and $12 for each non-member.
- Take Part in the OU Day of the Dead Festival!
The OU Hispanic American Student Association and Oklahoma University Student Life honor the Latin American culture Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by hosting their own version of the festival at the Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday, October 30 from 1-8pm. Their festival includes food trucks, face painting, and various performances from dancers and singing groups throughout the event! Admission to the festival is free, however it would be wise to bring some money for concessions.
- Check Out the Day of the Dead Festival!
Located on NW 16th Street, the Plaza District puts on a great festival for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It takes place on October 30, from 1-8pm. The event has activities for both kids and adults, music, art and dancing. They will also have food and a group art show. The best part? Admission is free.
- Get Scared at Frontier City’s Frightfest!
Frontier City’s annual Frightfest is back. Tickets for the haunted house are an extra $5 plus the park’s regular entrance fee. The park has a huge haunted house area located in the middle of the park, however, different scare zones are scattered throughout the park and do not require an extra ticket. Frightfest is happening every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October 30. Be sure to bring extra money for food. If the line is hideously long, fast passes are available for purchase for $15.
There are many fun things in the community for people to do this season. Hopefully, with events like these students can take their minds off of stressful things and have some fall fun!
