Fire Breaks out in OKC Highrise
November 5, 2017
Just before mid day a fire broke out on the 26th floor of the First National Bank Building at the corner of Park street and North Robinson
Nearly a dozen firetrucks and half that many ambulances crammed into the stretch or Robinson in the heart of downtown OKC to battle the blaze and provide support for those efforts.
According to a first responder on the scene, the fire burned for almost half an hour.
Efforts to put out the fire were slowed by the lack of elevator service to the affected area. Recently refurbished elevator systems in the building only extend to the 14th floor, only half way up to the fire.
According to the OKC Fire Department’s twitter, nobody was found inside and no injuries have been reported but firefighters remained at the scene into the early afternoon to ensure that the fire was permanently put out.
The fire left its mark on the building’s facade where the concrete has been visibly blackened by the fire.
No cause for the fire has yet been stated.
