AP Exams are standardized exams designed to measure how well you’ve mastered the content and skills of a specific AP course.

The first round of AP tests will start on May 6.

Although these tests may be pricey, there are many benefits to taking them. Scoring high on these exams can look great on college applications or can even be used to earn class credit.

Whether you are taking one test, or multiple, finding time and ways to study can be difficult. Here are some tips to make sure you ace your upcoming AP Exams.

1. Using Practice Books

Every AP course has a corresponding practice book. My personal favorites are from Princeton Review. These books have multiple practice tests along with worked out answers for every question. At the end of each section there is a very in-depth list of concepts to work on. These books can start anywhere from $15 and are great if you need a hands-on tool to practice with.

2. Khan Academy

Nobody ever talks about Khan Academy! This website is completely free and has a course for almost every subject taught at our school! Khan has walkthrough videos, practice problems, and even practice quizzes and exams. Every problem has worked out solutions that are easy to understand. Did I mention it’s free?

3. YouTube Channels/ TikTok

YouTube has an abundance of educational channels. Heimler’s History has full unit recaps, along with tutorials on how to write essay questions for all the different history tests. Mr. Sinn is great for geography and psychology review. Crash Course is also a great source for science and history reviews. TheNoteNinja, on TikTok also has great recaps for subjects like English, History, Psychology, and Statistics.

History teacher Travis Rhodes said it’s important to know key concepts for each course.

“College Board loves concepts,” he said.

4. Preparing the Night Before

Even though cramming seems like a good idea, it’s not. Watch a few review videos and go to sleep early. Getting a full night’s rest ensures that you are energized and focused while testing.

Make sure to eat a good breakfast too!

“Trust the work that you have done all year, it’s going to pay off so just breathe and relax,” said Rhodes. “It’ll be over before you know it.”

Hi, I'm Becca! This is my second year on the staff, but my first year as an editor. I love writing music reviews. This year I am hoping to focus on more school related/serious topics. I can't wait to see what this year brings!
