Album of the month

Stephanie
Genre: Synthpop
Favorite Tracks: This is Gospel, Miss Jackson
Why: I like that it’s upbeat. There are several songs on the album that could be easy to dance to. I had listened to them before in older albums, but I really like this one.
Isis
Genre: Pop rock/alternative
Favorite Track: St. Patrick
Why: I like the album because it fronts a female singer in a rock band that can’t be compared to Paramore’s Hayley Williams. The band keeps up energy and the singer’s voice is absolutely beautiful against semi-heavy guitar and drums.
Elizabeth
Genre: Rock/alternative
Favorite Tracks: Gold, Smoke + Mirrors, I’m So Sorry
Why: I like this album because it features a variety of music, as well as good lyrics.
Camila
Genre: Indie pop/indie rock
Favorite Tracks: I’m His Girl, Va Fan Gor Du, Friend Crush, Ruins
Why: This band has a fun sound that you can dance or sing along to easily. Their lyrics cover topics that aren’t very popular in music we usually hear, such as street harassment and the freedom and joy of non-possessive relationships. Also, the singer’s voice is absolutely wonderful.
Vanessa
Genre: Electronic/pop
Favorite Tracks: Earned It by The Weeknd, Crazy in Love (2014 Remix) by Beyonce
Why: Most of the songs have the sensual, smooth melody that I find addicting. Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra is a nice twist to the other songs.
Callie
Genre: Hip hop/rap
Favorite Track: One Man Can Change the World feat. Kanye West and John Legend
Why: I have always been a pretty big fan of Big Sean, but this is by far his best. Some of the really good tracks are Paradise, I Know, Blessings, and Win Some Lose Some, but the best I think is One Man Can Change the World. I can’t emphasize enough how much I like this song especially because it’s so different from a lot of what he’s done and other songs on this album. Also, Paradise gets me super hyped.
Hannah
Genre: Country
Favorite Tracks: Automatic, Little Red Wagon, Platinum, Another Sunday in the South
Why: I love her voice and the stories in her songs. Little Red Wagon is super catchy and just makes you want to move. Automatic is a great song because of the story behind it and the lyrics. Same with Another Sunday in the South. Platinum is just funny because it speaks the truth to multiple women. I feel like this album can empower women and it’s very catchy.
