Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is the fourth game in the Homeworld series. Epic Games has generously bundled the first and second Homeworld remastered versions together, so I must ask that you go and play the remastered version of the first three games for the story to make sense. 

Homeworld games are strategy games in which you have different missions that all tie together. Your troops will carry from one mission to the next. (So, if you only have a few troops left you will start the next mission with the few you have.)  

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that takes the Homeworld universe to a whole new level by venturing onto the desolate sands of Kharak. The game’s storyline is set on a distant, arid planet and serves as a prequel to the renowned Homeworld series, providing a deeper understanding of the lore.

However, where the game truly shines is in its multiplayer mode. Engaging in tactical battles against other players in the harsh desert environment adds a layer of challenge and excitement. The strategic depth and diversity of units encourage creative tactics, ensuring that each match is a unique experience. 

On the flip side, some players might find the learning curve a bit steep, especially if they’re new to the RTS genre. The complexity of unit management and strategy may deter casual gamers, but for those who enjoy a challenge, this can be seen as a plus. 

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak offers an enthralling journey through a richly imagined world, backed by strong visuals, an engaging storyline, and intense multiplayer battles. While it may pose a challenge for newcomers to the genre, it’s a must-play for fans of the series and RTS enthusiasts seeking a new and compelling experience.
