In a collaboration with The Oklahoma Department of Education and Prager U a new questionably legal ideological woke test has been made.
I took the test and the results were shocking. The test mostly consists of constitutional questions but also had some questions sprinkled in that alluded to trans people. So would I pass the wokeness test? Yes, no matter your political leanings you could pass this test as it is impossible to fail. Failing this test results in taking it again so any aspiring teachers from “woke” states wanting to move to Oklahoma can woke out to their heart’s content on this test until they get it right.
Who is behind this test? None other then “educational” “nonprofit” “university” Prager U. Founded in 2009 by Dennis Prager with the goal of spreading Conservative values, Prager U produces a variety of conservative content that is geared towards children with takes such as “Slavery wasn’t bad, everyone was doing it” and the classic “The civil War was about states rights.” And thanks to their donations from big oil CEOs they throw in some anti-climate change messaging too. Despite not being a legitimate university, their content is already considered supplemental material in eight states including Oklahoma.
In an opinion piece on the New York Post penned by Prager U CEO Marissa Streit and Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters wrote “And let’s clear up another smear: PragerU does not ‘whitewash’ history.” A majority of Prager U’s historical content is made with the purpose to whitewash the most horrifying parts of American history that even they cannot justify.
While the test is laughable with it being impossible to fail, this test is another sign of Oklahoma’s failing education system. An ideological test to teach in a state that is already short on qualified teachers especially one made by an organization that pumps out inaccurate lessons designed to downplay our nations greatest atrocities is not going to help save our school system.
