It’s been awhile since we’ve needed our parents to dress us when it’s cold, but sometimes winter weather gets the best of us. For those out there who aren’t sure how to beat back frost bite, here’s a quick list of tips that will help you keep warm in school.
First things first, ditch your short sleeve shirt in favor of one with long sleeves. It can be a uniform shirt or an undershirt with long sleeves. There is a strong correlation between cold weather and the number of people wearing long sleeve shirts, so one could even say it’s in style. You’ll stay both fashionable and warm; who doesn’t want that?
There are those among you who live and die by your shorts; you make it a point to not wear pants and your peers respect you for your commitment to this inconvenience. While your passion for shorts can’t keep you warm, thermal leggings can. You’ll be able to wear a pair under your shorts and not have to look stupid wearing pants.
It’s hard to skirt around the issue of the most open of leg wear. It’s also hard to stay warm while wearing a piece of cloth that only wraps around your waste while leaving your legs exposed, but there are some options. “Sweater tights” can help keep your legs nice and warm and some thin leggings are made with warmth in mind. Still, for those who absolutely abhor the cold, it’s is best to avoid drafty clothing altogether.
Keep in mind that knowing when winter weather will strike is as important as knowing how to dress for it. Keep your eyes on the weekly forecast and use those predictions to dress accordingly. If it looks like it will be particularly cold one day, consider not leaving the house in order to avoid the cold.
Avoid large openings in clothing. As mentioned before, long sleeves and thermal underwear can help with your arms and legs. Scarves can help with the neckline and are allowed in class. For those of you who don’t want to go through the trouble of putting up with these, then consider actually tucking in your shirt
