How to spring break like a pro

Kaitlyn Smith, Reporter

After the long start of second semester, students look forward to one of the last breaks given to them before the summer: spring break. At HCP, the workload gets overwhelming as students count down to the end of the third quarter, but what about when spring break actually begins? They may think that there is nothing to do but chill and watch Netflix, but there are many other fun and inexpensive activities to participate in over the week of luxury. Not sure about what could possibly be fun to do in Oklahoma? Here are some suggestions:

1. Winter Jam

On March 12 make your way to the Chesapeake Energy Center to see a variety of Christian music groups and singers, ranging from King and Country, Matthew West, Crowder, Lauren Daigle, Red, Newsong, Sidewalk Prophets, KB, Tedashii, We are Messengers and Stars Go Dim. There will also be a guest speaker, Tony Nolan. If you enjoy Christian music, preaching, and food, go to Winter Jam. The doors open for a pre-jam party at 5 p.m. and showtime starts at 5:45 p.m. It only costs $10 at the door and maybe some extra to pay for food and gift items.

2. Andy Alligator’s

You’re never too old to go to a water park full of games and activities. Enjoy break while it lasts and go to Andy Alligator’s for the Spring Break Blast, starting March 11th, ending on the 20th for fun, games and for a chance to win a Water Park Family Fun Pack. They are open starting at 10 am, click the link above for more information, or call (405)321-7275.

3. Skate Galaxy

Everyone loves roller-skating… right? Well, even if you don’t know how to skate without falling on your rear-end, Skate Galaxy is open all Spring Break for daily sessions. Also, for good luck go to the St. Patrick’s Day all night skate on March 17th starting at 8 pm, ending at 8 am. Bring your friends and family to enjoy the last break before having to go back to school for 2 more months. Who knows, you may learn a few new moves.

4. Spring Break Camps

Calling all future scientists and inventors of Harding, now is your time to shine and gain experience at a spring break full of robot designing and programming. Costing around $240-$480, it would be a great experience and fun way to fully appreciate and acknowledge your interests and talents.

If you enjoy STEM club or gaming, game design camp is for you. It would further your experience with gaming and help you learn more about the structure of it, while having fun in the process. The cost is in the same range as the robotics camp, click the link above for more information.

If none of these ideas seem interesting to you, there are many other things to do. There is always the option of going to Harkins theater to see any of the new movies coming out, click the link to take a look.

Whatever it is that you decide to do, the Marionette staff hopes you have a great spring break, enjoy it while it lasts!
