For months rumors have been flying around the internet whether Apple was creating a miniaturized version of the iPad, and those rumors turned out to be true on October 23 when Apple unveiled the new iPad mini.
The new iPad mini has a 7.9 inch display, an A5 chip and comes in either black or white. It also can come with 16, 32 or 64 GB memory along with a ten hour battery life. The new mini tablet will debut with iOS6, it will also include Siri and Apple’s new lightening port. The iPad mini does not have retina display, unlike its larger cousin the iPad.
The new device will also come with a WiFi-only version and version with Wi-Fi and able to connect to a 4G LTE mobile network. The prices are expensive compared to other mini tablets, with the 16 GB Wi-Fi-only version starting at $329 and $429 for 32GB and $529 for the 64GB.
Along with the iPad mini, the new 4th generation iPad was also released with a faster A6x chip and a better retina display, which are the only differences between it and the iPad 3. It also includes Apple’s new lightning port.
