It’s a new year at HCP, meaning courses are in full force. New classes were introduced for the 2023-2024 school year, including Reading for Pleasure and AP Pre-Calculus.
Reading for Pleasure, taught by Librarian Jillian Thomas, is a class designed to provide a space for students to unwind and spend time reading to themselves. Anyone is able to enroll in it, no prior pre-requisites are needed.
“The benefit of taking it for me is that I have a dedicated time to read something that I actually enjoy everyday, as well as it is a nice break in the middle of my school day,” said junior Jack Powell.
AP Pre-Calculus is a new AP course to HCP taught by Mike Eaton. This class is designed to be a more challenging curriculum than the previous Pre-AP Pre-Calculus. Anyone taking Pre-Calculus this year is required to take the AP class, as there is no alternative.
“The added challenge will get the students ready for success in a college environment,” said AP Physics and Pre-AP Chemistry teacher Gregory Meerschaert.
