Halloween has always been my favorite holiday not because of the candy but because of the costumes. Every year I love to show off my sewing skills by making a costume and I always love seeing the costumes others put effort into. Most of the school dressed up for Halloween in costumes of varying levels of quality. I made my selections based on the effort, creativity and general vibe of the costume. Here are the top 3 best Halloween costumes of Harding in 2025.
Senior Regina Ramos went as El Macho from the film Despicable Me 2. While she was not in the supervillain outfit it was still a funny and creative costume. I
personally was surprised by how accurate it was. It was clear there was effort and thought put behind it even for a casual outfit. Ramos could have gone the easy route and just worn something from her closet but it was clear she searched for every piece of this costume. When asked what the most memorable thing that happened on Halloween was Ramos said:
“Sophia stole all my candy.”
2. Blue Collar Mario
Senior Owen Marler had a serious and grim take on the iconic and beloved character of Mario this year. This costume depicts a Mario who’s really down on his luck with only one suspender of his overalls intact and missing the iconic “M” on the hat so commonly associated with the fictional plumber. This Mario costume shows the reality of a plumber. This Mario is not stomping goombas and saving princesses no he is fixing pipes like a real American hero. It is truly an amazing example of how important these vital workers are to our society and how often they are overlooked. When asked about how his Halloween was Marler said:
“Halloween was fun, Regina was acting like a king afterwards.”
Because this is probably my last Halloween in America I went all out. I decided to go as a character I always wanted to do but never did because of how difficult it would be. For my final Halloween I decided to be my favorite character Big Brother of The Middle: Ricardo, from the game Limbus Company. It took over 30 feet of gold painted chains and several pounds of fabric but it was worth it. The costume has 3 main parts the coat, the chains and the book. The most difficult part to make was the coat just because of the part around the neck. It was difficult to make fabric stand up but I did it by building it on a frame and while it ended up being very heavy it looks great. Senior Brogan Covey went with me as a Little Brother of The Middle and when asked what he thought Covey said:
“It was fun to wear and I liked the opportunity to dress out on Halloween.”
