It’s a new year at HCP, and students are searching for ways to get involved with the community. Many clubs have returned this year, along with some new ones that will give students with a variety of interests a place to call home. That said, here’s a provided list of the clubs that have been confirmed available to students this year.

Archery: It’s not a surprising fact that the earliest evidence of the bow and arrow dates to more than 10,000 years ago. At Harding Charter Prep’s Archery club, they strive to continue a tradition that has existed for longer than Homo Sapiens has been the dominant species on Earth. The starting time has not yet been decided.

BSU: HCP’s Black Student Union strives to promote culture and inclusivity in the school, as well as educating others on Black social matters. They meet after school on Mondays in the choir room.

LSA: HCP’s LatinX Student Associastion strives to provide a safe environment for the school’s LatinX students, while also promoting an inclusive and cultural environment in the school. They meet after school on Tuesdays in Lila Villanueva’s room. Anyone is welcome.

QSA: HCP’s Queer-Straight Alliance club strives to provide a safe space for students who identify as LGBTQIA+, as well as any allies. They meet after school every other Thursday in Emma Smreker’s room.

Chess: Chess as we know it dates back to the 13th century; however, the oldest recorded form of chess goes even further back, all the way to the 7th century. Anyone with an interest in this ancient game of strategy is welcome to join HCP’s chess club. They meet in the small gym every Friday after school.

Board game: If it’s a relaxed, fun environment for which you seek, seek no further; HCP’s board game club is a casual environment where anyone can come and enjoy the many available board games. They meet after school on Mondays in the library.

Ping pong: Perhaps you crave a casual environment similar to the board game club, but would prefer to do something more active and engaging? Look no further than the ping pong club. They meet in the small gym after school on Fridays.

Baking: Culinary skills are not easy to master, but once you do, they become an invaluable tool. At HCP’s baking club, they strive to not only develop those skills, but to have fun while doing so. Their first meeting will be held on September 11 in the Family and Consumer Science room.

Women in STEM: This club meets on the first Monday of every month in Heather Hill’s room.

Knitting and crocheting: For those with an interest in crochet or knitting, whether you’re new or experienced. This club meets in Kat Leender’s room after school every other Tuesday.
