The Oklahoma State Department of Education released the 2014 school report cards last week. Harding Charter Prep received an A+ with a score of 108 out of a possible 110 points.

Principal Justin Hunt was elated at the news of receiving a score of 108. “Even with its changes that some people disagreed with, as other schools scores decreased ours increased,” he said.

“It is a testament to how hard our students work and how hard our teachers work to prepare them; it’s a testament to the community here at Harding,” he added.

Harding Charter Prep’s score out-ranked Classen High School of Advanced Studies score of 104 and Harding Fine Arts Academy score of 103.

The A-F School Grading System “is designed to incentivize schools to strive for and reach high levels of college- and career-readiness,” according to the Oklahoma SDE.

The Oklahoma SDE website states that the A-F School Grading System works by gathering information such as the percentage of students within a school who are currently meeting or exceeding academic standards and percentage of students working toward meeting those standards. It also awards bonus points to schools who are exceeding expectations with high graduation rates and daily attendance.

HCP has excelled with the A-F School Grading System since its adoption by the Oklahoma Legislature in 2011.

“It’s a great community, great students, great teachers, great families, with everybody working for one goal and one mission, and the report card obviously shows that,” Hunt said.
