The HCP National Honor Society announced at their last meeting that they will hold a clothing drive later this year to help those less fortunate in the community stay warm. The clothing drive, proposed by NHS secretary Garrett Eakers, will allow students the opportunity to help those in need while doing their spring cleaning.

“The NHS has a mission to do service, and this is something that’s easy for most people to get behind,” Eakers said. “It requires little effort on the part of the donors, and it contributes to a great cause.”

The donated clothing will go to a larger distribution program and eventually to people who do not have the appropriate clothing to keep them warm.

“We’re doing this to help people, and to make a significant difference in the community,” said NHS President Carus Newman. “It’s cold right now, and this is a good way to help.”

The NHS will decide on the details of the clothing drive, including the dates, at the upcoming general meeting this week.
