If you are looking for something fun, unexpected, and a little hectic, the Drama Department’s upcoming play might be it.
This year’s school play is a double feature, which features “The AI Play” and “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse.” Both are comedies written by Don Zolids.
“This means the audience gets two plays for the price of one,” said Mrs. Paul.
The performances will take place on Friday, February 27, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, February 28, at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available online and during lunch, as well as online. This makes it easier for students, staff and families to go.
According to Paul, tickets are $5 for the pre-sale and $7 at the door.
The play is being put on by the Drama Department and includes 27 students, who are working both onstage and behind the scenes. The production is directed by HCPHS drama teacher Sierra Paul. Rehearsals happen two to three times a week for the crew and cast to prepare.
Audiences should be ready for dramatic visuals.
“Expect shredded bloody parts, they’re fake obliviously,” said Paul.
With humor, this play also includes deeper themes while adding unexpected meaning to laughter.
One of the most exciting parts of the show is the makeup and costume designs.
“This year, we are really going crazy with the costumes and makeup,” said sophomore Janiyah Stewert.
To sum up, the upcoming play is described as fun, lighthearted, and entertaining, while still having deep meaning. Whether you’re a fan of comedy or just want to support the school community, it’s a show you won’t want to miss.
